Funtime Friday: Chaos
While most people will have taken advantage of the ineptitude of staff working at Target or Harvey Norman to enjoy looking at their copy of Skyrim a day early, I’ve been keeping myself occupied with something else this week.
Everyone has to put in a shift here at the Pixel Hunt ivory tower; we can’t all be slaying “unlimited” numbers of dragons, you know.
But there’s no doubt that I’ll be doing quite the bit of slaying myself over the weekend.
It’s a bit unpopular among the masses right now, but that isn’t going to stop Modern Warfare 3 from being probably the biggest selling title of the year.
Maybe it’s just me, but there’s something refreshing that knowing the balls-to-the-wall formula that was spawned with the Quake series and Unreal Tournament is always going to be popular. I loved both those games as a kid, being the nostalgic for the “Golden Age” of gaming (the 1990s, of course) that I am, and it’s comforting to be able to grow old with the things you love.
Of course, I’m not saying I love Modern Warfare 3. You’ll have to wait for the review to find that out, but I’m sure gamers can appreciate consistency in their franchises.
I’ve got the next week off work, so it’s going to be seven straight days of gaming for me. Until then, however, I’ll be glued to my iron sights all weekend.
What about yourselves?
